Privacy policy

ShiftSail has no accounts, no ads and no tracking. Your races are stored on your iPhone and in your own iCloud. We do not receive your location or your race data.

Location

ShiftSail uses your location to show speed, course, the start line, laylines and your track. This works only while you use the app for a race or a start, including when the screen is locked. Location is processed on your device and is not sent to us.

Your races

Tracks, tack analysis and settings are stored on your iPhone. If iCloud is turned on for ShiftSail, they are also stored in your private iCloud so they appear on your other devices. Apple handles iCloud under its own privacy policy. You can delete a race in the app at any time.

Apple Watch and external GPS

Data moves between your iPhone and your Apple Watch so the watch can show the timer and the meter. If you connect an external GPS receiver over Bluetooth, ShiftSail reads its position the same way it reads the phone's.

Exports

When you choose Export for AI or share a race, ShiftSail creates files and hands them to the app you pick, for example mail, AirDrop or an AI assistant. What happens to the data after that is covered by that app's own privacy policy. Nothing is exported unless you do it.

Purchases

Purchases are handled by Apple through the App Store. We never see your payment details.

Analytics and crash reports

ShiftSail contains no third-party analytics or advertising code. If you have agreed to share analytics with app developers in your iPhone's settings, Apple may send us anonymous crash reports.

This website

shiftsail.app uses Cloudflare Web Analytics to count visits. It sets no cookies and does not identify you or follow you across other sites.

Children

ShiftSail is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version is published on this page with a new date.
